The letter game,
better together.
Ce l’ho! is a free category and letter game to play out loud with friends. One phone is all you need. No account, no app.
FLIP THE CARD →How to play
- Open the site and select “Flip the card”. Put the phone where everyone can read the screen.
- Wait five seconds. The countdown gives everyone time to get ready.
- Read the category and letter. Take turns saying a word that fits the category and begins with that letter.
- Use your own house rules. For example, no repeated answers. Once someone answers, they step aside — or leave the camera frame if you are filming.
- Select “One more” whenever you want a new challenge. Another five-second countdown starts.
There is no timer after the reveal. Your group decides which answers count and when to move on.
Try these examples
Animals starting with B: bear, badger, buffalo.
Things in a kitchen starting with P: pan, plate, peeler.
Things you take to the beach starting with S: sunscreen, sunglasses, sandals.
For friends, parties and families
Play at a party, on a trip or during a night in. You can film your group’s reactions, but a camera is never needed to play. An adult can help younger players read the categories or skip a tricky card.
Unlike a traditional written category game, you answer out loud and tackle one category at a time. There are no forms to fill in and no automatic scores.
Frequently asked questions
What is Ce l’ho!?
A free online letter game for friends. The site picks a category and an initial letter. Take turns saying words that match both.
Do I need an account or an app?
No. Open the website in your browser and select Flip the card. No registration, personal details or downloads are needed to play.
How long is the timer?
Five seconds, only before the challenge appears. There is no answer timer: the category and letter stay on screen until you select One more.
How many people can play?
Two people or a whole group can play using one phone. You do not enter names, and there is no player limit.
How do we decide who wins?
Agree on your own rules. The site does not listen, score answers or eliminate players. You could ban repeated answers and have each person step aside after answering.
Is it like Categories or Scattergories?
It shares the idea of finding words for a category and starting letter. Ce l’ho! shows one category at a time, with spoken answers and no score sheet.
Which categories can come up?
There are 100 English categories across five groups: classics, places, food, everyday life and surprises. Families alternate, and every category appears before the deck starts over. English letters are selected using English sample answers.
Can I switch between Italian and English?
Yes. Use IT or EN at the top of the page. Each language has its own category and letter combinations, and your language choice is remembered in this browser.
